Rose cuttings

Cuttings
If you want to propagate a rose, I want to tell you, it is so easy.  I admit, certain roses just cannot be propagated.
But all the miniature roses and Icebergs can be propagated with big success.  I've found a method that works like a charm.

 Four easy steps.
  1. Make cuttings.   Take cuttings from an Iceberg, for example.  It can be softwood,semi-hardwood or hardwood cuttings.  If you take hardwood cutting, make sure that you use hormone powder for hardwood cuttings.
  2. Make a bed with soil that drains easily.  I use black buckets to plant them in.   It doesn't really matter where you plant them. They will adapt.
  3. Dip the cuttings in the hormone powder according to the type of cuttings you picked.
  4. Put them into the soil and water well.  Make sure that they get a little bit of water every day or every second day.  They must never dry out completely.
In about 3 to 4 weeks they will be ready to plant out.  I suggest that you plant them in plastic bags, if you want to sell them.  Or if you want to
plant them in your garden, you can do that as well.
The photograph attached shows 100 Iceberg cuttings I've made this morning.  Don't be fooled by the net.  That doesn't really matter.   If it is very cold in the winter, you can put a net or other kind of cover over them.  But I've found that this doesn't really make any difference.    Rose cuttings are easy to make.
You can experiment with all kinds of roses, but I have found that miniature roses, Icebergs and certain other roses like "Brides Dream" (Hybrid Tea) make excellent cuttings.
