ROSES IN THE SPRING

I want to write something about these two roses.  I've taken these two photographs on Sunday the 18th of September.  No signs of a lot of roses at this stage, but the potential is there.  The above two roses are of the first to flower in my nursery.

Elina is a beautiful yellow rose that cannot stop flowering. It's Hybrid Tea that can get quit tall.

Merry go Round is a rose that gets bigger, but with small clusters of pink and white flowers.  It is a lovely rose for garden borders. This is a rose that you must plant in abundance.  Their lovely small flowers will give a lovely display all year round.

I haven't notice any diseases yet, but it is a good idea to start spraying your roses now, before the first diseases start to appear.  At this time of year you may notice powdery mildew on your roses, because of the hot spells we get during spring.  I spray with Chronos and little bit of dish washing liquid for a beginning.  This will prevent powdery mildew and blackspot.  Blackspot is a difficult disease to control once it has appeared on your roses.  It can be prevented, but not cured.  Blackspot cause the rosebush to drop all it's leaves, and without leaves, you cannot have beautiful roses.
Happy rose gardening, until next time.
